On 20th March 2015, An Binh Commercial Joint Stock Bank (ABBANK) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) signed advisory agreement and launched “Enhancing SME Segment Competency” project. This is an important program which aims at innovating and improving the competitive ability of ABBANK in serving SME customers, gradually claims the position of ABBANK in retail market.

On March 20th 2015, in Hanoi, with the witness of honored guests as well as journalists, Ms. Nguyen Hanh Nam, in charge of Customers Financial Institution Department of IFC in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand area, and Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Mai – Deputy General Director of ABBANK officially signed the agreement of “Enhancing SME Segment Competency” project, setting a crucial point in the collaboration relationship between ABBANK and IFC.

As expectation, the project is going to implement within 18 months and focus on several main contents, including: building standard SME segment in ABBANK, enforcing policies, launching products and services, supporting loans, limiting risks for SME customers; leveraging business activities, developing tools and policies needed to approach customers for ABBANK’s officers.

Ms. Nguyen Hanh Nam, Director of Customer Financial Institution Department of IFC in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand area stated that: “With IFC’s rich experiences in advising for hundreds of financial organizations all over the world, along with determination to develop the SME segment of ABBANK, I believe the project will be successful and achieve expected results and support ABBANK become an important source of funding for SMEs which have difficulties in accessing capital, thus helping to promote economic growth and create more jobs ”. Sharing the same opinion with Ms. Nguyen Hanh Nam, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Mai – Deputy General Director of ABBANK said that: “Enhancing SME Segment Competency project is one of the key projects, focus on developing ability of sales team, providing financial solutions packages tailored according to the specific defining each segment, each sector, individual characteristics of the executive management of each segment, while improving the overall quality of service,…The board of management of ABBANK is also confident of concentrating all of our resources on this project. The success of this project will create a platform by which ABBANK can come closer to the goal of being one of leading joint-stock banks in Vietnam, focusing on retail banking".
